Blue Belt Curriculum
A blue belt has awareness of the overall Jiu Jitsu game and has an objective for each of the basic positions. This belt requires SPECIFIC knowledge and is not judged by time in training or athletic ability. Earning a blue belt may take 1-2 years and will require thorough knowledge of the Blue Belt Curriculum.
TAKE DOWNS:
- Ability to maintain strong posture & balance using grips, footwork and sprawling.

- Maintaining strong posture, always aware to defend neck and arms

BACK ESCAPES
- Baseball grip
- Removing hooks
- Back flat theory
SIDE CONTROL ESCAPES
- Strong posture, maintaining awareness of body weight position and proper weight distribution throughout various positions (north/south, kesa gatame, reverse kesa gatame, knee on belly)
- Shrimp

- Bridge & Roll
- Leg swing to guard/knees (require momentum)
HEADLOCK ESCAPES
- Proper posture, tucking chin and hiding elbow.

- Ability to maintain control of legs using grips; opening and avoiding closed guard & awareness of submissions.
